First Biennial Industry Achievement Awards Presented to a Blacks Harbour Man

Delma Doucette of Black's Harbour on the receiving end of the award Biennial Industry Achievement Award ... DOUCETTE recieved bronze As part of the 2010 edition of the Fish Canada/Workboat Canada Exposition in Moncton show.
The awards were presented at the Industry Reception at the Delta Thursday night in front of a crowd of industry counterparts and dignitaries.

The winners have demonstrated to be individuals whom have contributed to the betterment of the industry, be it through volunteering or other outstanding contributions to their community and to the fishing industry.

Delma Doucette is captain of the Margaret Elizabeth, a 115-ft steel herring seiner out of Blacks Harbour. His named is spoken with near reverence in the Blacks Harbour area when people talk about the herring fishery. Delma is one of the very few independent herring seiner captains in New Brunswick. He took over from his father Vincent, also a captain of great renown in the region and now Delma is grooming his own son for later on when he retires.
