Deer Island Ferry Update

The Department of Transportation district officials in Saint John now advise that the Deer Island Ferry service will operate under normal circumstances with two vessels running between tomorrow until Monday.

Deer Island Ferry Schedule 1

For anyone that uses the Deer Island Ferry, here is notice that the wait to use the service could get longer starting tomorrow. There will only be one vessel on the water starting tomorrow until Sunday.

The Deer Island Princess II ferry, which has a capacity of 24 cars, will be operational and shuttle back and forth between six in the morning and 10:30pm every night.

Boil Order For Blacks Harbour

Residents who reside from 183 to 232  on Main Street in  Black Harbour and residents of Beaver Harbour who are on Connor's Brothers water supply are on a boil water order today.  This is due to a water main break.

Water used for brushing teeth, making ice, juice, coffee, tea or cooking with should be boiled for at least one minute prior to use.

The Public Works Department tells us you may bath in the water and and it's safe to wash your dishes in hot soapy water. with the story slug.

Stolen Lobster Traps

Sometime last night a lobster fisherman from Campobello, discovered a theft of his lobster traps, which had been secured on a skow, anchored at Head Harbour were stolen.

There were about  90 traps at  about $40 dollars each. Anyone having any information concerning this theft are requested to contact the Campobello RCMP at 752-2211 or 466-7030 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477. 

Anyone providing information will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash award, should the information provided lead to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this theft."
