Hit and run

Police tells they are investigating a hit and run in the Charlotte County area. The accident happened in the early morning hours on Sunday. RCMP says that a vehicle crossed the center line and struck another vehicle on Route 127 near Chamcook and the vehicle driver fled the scene.

Water shut off On Porter Street and Nesbitt Avenue

The Town of St. Stephen tells us they will be shutting the water off today on Porter Street and Nesbitt Avenue. The water will be shut off on those two streets from noon until until 2 this afternoon.

Change to Gas Price Set-Up

It will be Friday this week before we find out whether the price of gas is going up or down. Tomorrow is of course a Holiday, so that means the Energy and Utilities Board won't release it's new price schedule until Midnight Thursday.
Normally, we find out what we will be paying at the pumps at midnight Thursday but under certain circum-stances, the legislation prescribes changes to the schedule.

Lower Taxes-

You will see a bigger pay cheque after Wednesday. That's when provincial residents will begin to benefit from The Plan for Lower Taxes, released as part of the 2009-10 budget. The plan includes more than 380 million dollars in annual tax savings by 2012-13. Personal income tax savings this year will be about 124 million dollars.
For example: A single individual making 25,000 dollars per year will save 202 dollars this year and 473 dollars every year by 2012.
