More money

More great news announced by the Provincial Government. The Government is investing $1.65 million in rural road infrastructure for chipsealing in Charlotte, St. John and Kings counties. This contract, awarded to Northern Construction Inc. includes 6.9 km on Deer Island, eight km in the St. George, Pennfield, Blacks Harbour areas and 26 km around St. Stephen.

The department is investing more than $1.5 million in ferry upgrades and refits along with improvements to wharfs and landings for the Grand Manan, Lady White Head, John E. Rigby and Deer Island Princess II vessels.

Acadia Grows

Great news today. A Saint John based broadcasting company is expanding its reach in Northwestern Ontario -- Acadia Broadcasting which is the parent company of this radio station is purchasing two FM stations in Thunder Bay from Newcap Inc. The stations will join Acadia's stations in Dryden - Kenora - and - Fort Frances under its subsidiary company Northwoods Broadcasting Limited. The 4.5-million dollar deal is subject to approval by the Canadian Radio -Television and Telecommunications Commission. Acadia also owns and operates stations in St Stephen and Bridgewater.

King Street Construction

The bulk of the work for king street is complete. Director of operation Lee Johnson tells us the seal should be finished by the end of the day. Johnson says there will still be some odd and ends to clean up but the majority of construction will be finished today.
