Attempted Abduction In Memramcook

RCMP are investigating the attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl in southeastern part of the Province. They Tell us it happened mid afternoon yesterday in Memramcook.

Police say a man tried to grab the girl from behind but she mananaged to break free and run for help.

The suspect, who was wearing a black hoody, is described as being slim and of medium height.

Gas Prices Today St.Stephen & Calais

Not much of a change with gas prices after the weekly setting. Self Serve Regular has gone up just slightly, under a penny, to 98.9 cents a litre.

 Diesel is also higher at 101.1 a litre. Propane, meantime, is less expensive falling to 99.6 cents.

Meanwhile if you headed to Calias gas will only cot you .76 cents per litre.

Point Lepreu Near Completion

NB Power says the refurbishment of its Point Lepreau nuclear generating station is about 75 per cent complete, although some some leaks were found in the joints of new calandria tubes, they contain pressure tubes that hold the reactor's fuel bundles.

Atomic Energy of Canada has been conducting assessments and tests on a number of potential technical solutions in order to create tighter seal joints that meet operating standards.

B&E At St. Stephen Guardian

Local RCMP responded to an alarm activated at the Guardian drug store in St. Stephen to start the week out.. Upon arrival the police discovered the business had been broken into and the culprit had fled the scene with a quantity of methadone.

Through investigation the RCMP has identified a suspect in the break and enter, the investigation is continuing.

Lake Utopia Land Owners Hold Vote

A motion to form a Lake Utopia Association will be tabled at a charter meeting tonight at The St. Mark's Church in St. George. All landowners on the lake and the lower Magaguadavic River are encouraged to be in attendance.. The lake has been a great summer retreat for locals and property owners from all around the Atlantic Provinces, Ontario, and the States.

Algae bloom in the recent years have raised cause for concern from locals and the health of their lake.

The meeting is set to get underway at 6:30 tonight.
