Calais Maine is celebrating there 200th birthday today. Mayor Vinton Cassidy tells tide news there will plenty to celebrate on both sides of the border:

Cassidy says the Mayor from St John and the Mayor from St Stephen will be in Calais to celebrate this day. Back in 1909 the city of Calais was officially named.

New Fisheries Service Centre Now Open

The Fisheries Service Centre on Campobello Island is now open.The announcement was made yesterday by The Federal Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Gail shea . The project is part of an overall DFO accommodation strategy for Southwest New Brunswick that has already seen new offices built over the last three years in Grand Manan Island and St. George.The new building was built by a Campobello Island contractor using local materials and suppliers.

Kier on Tidal Power

Energy Minister Jack Kier says without a doubt, they will harness the tidal energy of the Bay of Fundy. Kier tells Tide News, it's just a matter of time before Irving Oil and the Huntsman Marine Science Centre determine what type of equipment will be needed to survive the high tides of the Bay.

Kier says the Bay of Fundy is a pretty rough environment but private investors will eventually make a break through.
