The Mayor and Councillors here in St. Stephen are looking for a pay increase. There is some paper-work that has been put in motion to increase the annual amount they will receive in stipe-ends. Mayor Jed Prucell says of the seven municipalities similar to this one, St. Stephen is almost at the bottom of the pay scale.

The raise, if approved, would see the Mayor make$11,000, the Deputy Mayor is $6500 and Councillors $5500.  Council will not review another increase during this mandate which has close to another three years to go.
