Goverment funding for Civic Centre

  Both federal and provincal officials were in town today to make a huge announcement for the Charlotte  County Civic Centre.Premier Shawn Graham and Minister Greg Thomspon announce that each goverment will contribute 6.2 million dollars towards the   Civic Centre.Premier Graham says
this is another step to build a brighter future  for the Border Town:


Premier Graham says this was a community effort and the citizens work hard to have this project a reality.Mayor Jed purcell said he was proud to stand together with Minister Greg Thomspon and Premier Shawn Graham to make this huge announcement for the citizens of Charlotte County.Construction should start some time in August. Testing is being done on Bud Avenue to make sure everything is a go for the brand new Charlotte County Civic Centre.

Blacks Harbour results in after By-election

 Black harbour has a new councillor. Wayne Thomspon went up against Eleanor Greenlaw in yesterday by-election and Wayne was the overall winner.At least 200 residents cast their votes yesterday at the Brunswick curling club.Thompson fills the councillor position spot after Fred Murray resigned.

Premier Graham is in St. Stephen

Provincial officials will pay a visit to the border town this morning bearing gifts. Premier Graham will be joined by South-West MP and Minister of Veterans Affairs Greg Thompson and Mayor Jed Purcell for what is being called an infrastructure announcement.

 Things get started at 9:30am in the Town Square. 

St. Stephen Service Canada Centre for Youth

 The Service Canada Centres for Youth are now open to St Stephen residents. The offices are ready to assist businesses and young workers with their summer em-ployment needs.
  The Centres provide young people with job postings, interview advice, job search strategies and employers with a location to post job openings.The centre is located at 93 Milltown Blvd. For more information on Service Canada services for youth call 1 800 O-Canada .
 

Service New Brunswick closing on Campobello

Service New Brunswick will be closing on the Island as of 3:00 this afternoon .According to an email the residents of Campobello Island is reminded that today is the last day that it's Service Centre located in the Tourist Information Centre will be open. The centre will close for the year .

Biological station receives 1.3 million

 The Biological station in St Andrews received some funding from the government yesterday. Minister of Veterans affairs Greg Thompson announced that the government is funding  1.3 million dollars over the next two years to modernnize the facility.Thompson says the funding will provide jobs for workers to repair, upgrade and conduct other maintenance work at the station.The St Andrews Biological Station began operations in 1908.
