Polls Closed

The polls have closed and the counting has begun as voters choose a new provincial government after a 32-day campaign.
There are a record five parties in today's election but only the Conservatives, Liberals and N-D-P ran a full slate of candidates in all 55 ridings.

The Green party is contesting a New Brunswick election for the first time and running candidates in most ridings.

The People's Alliance of New Brunswick, an upstart party, has candidates in 14 ridings.

When the election was called, Premier Shawn Graham's Liberals had 31 seats and the Conservatives under David Alward had 21.

There was one Independent and two seats were vacant.
