A woman who survived a bout of breast cancer is now teaching a class on the exercise that helped her on her road to recovery.
In 2002,
Mary Eliza Humphries was diagnosed with breast cancer and a nurse
suggested she take an exercise program. She was eventually led to yoga.
She tells Tide News it made her feel like a whole person for the first
time since she started her treatment and she wanted to share that
feeling with others.
She's
now the instructor for the Survivorship Yoga program for survivors of
cancer and those undergoing treatment, and says she hopes to expand the
program to Saint John in January.
To
register for the program, call 847-2210, e-mail
survivorshipyoga@gmail.com, or simply drop by a Sunday class at 6pm at
the qplex in Quispamsis. The first class is this evening.
