A 12-year-old boy remains in moncton hosipital after he was hit by a School bus yesterday.
RCMP say the boy was coming down a hill on a bike behind a school in Sackville when he went onto a street and was hit just before 3 p.m.
The boy, who has not been identified, remains in hospital.

RCMP are combing the edges of the Saint John River after reports of a body in the water in Public Landing late yesterday. Sargeant Gary Fournier with the Grand Bay-Westfield detatchment tells Tide News, the initial call came in late yesterday afternoon.
Fournier says given the current of the river and the time when the search was called off last night, they will expand the boudaries of the search. Sargeant Fournier says there are no reports of anyone missing and are relying exclusively on what one witness has told them.

Public health officials say the next week or two will be crucial to determining how widespread the so called Swine Flu is in the province.
Chief Medical Health Officer - Dr Eilish Cleary - says we don't typically see a lot of influenza through the warmer months.
There have been two confirmed cases of Swine Flu in New Brunswick -- one in the Moncton area while the other was in the Frederiction area -- both were women -- and -- both have recovered without requiring hospitalization.

Another step has been taken in making the new Charlotte County Civic Center a reality. President of the Board of Directors is Richard Fulton who tells Tide News, the piece of property is being tested and there are still some tests that need to be carried out to get it ready for construction.
If everything stays on schedule......they should be ready to break ground by August. The fund-raiser portion of the project is at 3 million with a target of 3.5 million.

No more dodging potholes along King street here in St.Stephen.Town officials tells us they will begin construction May 11th and will complete by August 14th, weather permitting.An information meeting is set for today for concerned residents and businesses owners at the at milltown legion...at 2:00 this afternoon.
It is intended that the bulk of the work will be completed before the schools close and before Festival traffic material-izes.

The new ferry schedule takes effect today for Belleisle and Gagetown. Both services will only be operating between 6 in the morning and 11 in the evening until a private company takes over.
There are at least three contractors showing an interest in operating the Belleisle and Gagetown ferries.
The provincial government plans to hand over the two ferry services to community led groups in both areas once all they have all legal documentation in place. The province will continue to operate the ferries until the transition is complete.

If you operate a Boat you must have a license to drive one, according to the Canadian Coast Guard. Assistant director for Parks and Recreation Leah Nixton tells tide news over the past ten years the coast guard has implemented new changes to operate a powered boat.
Nixton tell us that they are offering a course here in St Stephen at the fire hall, 199 Union Street on Thursday July 9 at 6:30 to 9:30pm. You have to be 16 years of age or older for the course.

It was just a matter of time -- and -- now our province has its first confirmed case of the H1N1 or so called Swine Flu.
Chief Medical Health Officer - Dr Eilish Cleary says tests confirm a Moncton woman in her twenties who travelled to Mexico recenlty with the flu -- but -- she hasn't been hospitalized.
And Cleary says there's no need to panic.
Cleary says there's no need to even think about closing schools at this point -- she says provincial schools have been advised to take normal precautions.

The refurbishment project at Point Lepreau continues to run behind schedule. An update from NB Power today says the removal of all 380 of the pressure tubes from the reactor is complete with the next phase of work set to get started. The bad news is, things are still running behind schedule with a series of delays pushing completion of the project from September into, at least December, or possibly next year.
The main generator rotor that was dropped into the Saint John Harbor last fall is scheduled to arrive at the plant next month. NB Power says it is working closely with the fishing community to map out the best route for delivering the massive piece of machinery from the Port.

Workers from the LNG Site are protesting in St John on what they call a double time day. 40 worker's have been flown in from Poland to take their shift at the terminal. George Sherrard tells us, with the country knee deep in a recession, does it make any sense to bring in foreign workers.
Sherrard says the working conditions at the LNG Site are terrible with European workers given everything and workers from this country treated like third class citizens.

The mayor of Calais says his state and this Province need to work together to realize their energy and industrial goals. Vinton Cassidy tells us he is strongly in favour of the proposed LNG terminal in Maine which would bring tanker traffic through Passamaquoddy Bay. The provincial and federal governments have said they won't allow the development to take place but Cassidy says if we scratch their backs, they'll scratch ours.
The provincial government recently announced an energy corridor going through Maine carrying power transmission and natural gas lines to New England markets.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving say it's another win in the battle to get drunk drivers off the road -- Saint John president Lora Skead says new provincial regulations for drivers under 21 are hitting a key age group involved in impaired driving crashes.
Beginning June 1st -- new drivers under 21 and those with less than three years of experience must maintain a blood alcohol level of zero percent.
Skead tells Tide News the group is still trying to get the legal limit lowered from point-zero-eight to point-zero-five under the Criminal Code:
The new regulations for young drivers apply to residents and visitors alike who are driving motor and commercial vehicles or motorcycles.

Public health officials say our province remains swine flu free so far -- but -- Chief Medical Health Officer - Dr Eilish Cleary - says she wouldn't be surprised if a confirmed case eventually shows up in New Brunswick.
Cleary says people are remaining calm -- and -- there hasn't been a significant increase in the numbers of people showing up at doctors' offices or clinics suspecting they have the disease. There are now 19 confirmed Canadian swine flu cases.

The clock is ticking down to tonight's deadline for filing your 2008 personal income tax return.
You have until midnight tonight to mail or email your return -- but -- Roger Haineault of Help For Taxes tells Tide News there are some people who have a little longer to file. Anybody who is self employeed or their spoused have until June 15 to file.
Haineault says if you have a refund coming and are late filing -- the government won't give you a hard time -- but -- if you owe money and don't file by midnight tonight -- you will be hit with an immediate five percent late filing penalty and one percent per month there after.

The Energy and Utilities Board has released it's latest price schedule and the news is good on all fronts. A litre of self-serve is down just over a penny to 86.3 with most stations in St Stephen are selling a litre of self-serve for 87.0.
Diesel is down just over two cents at 86.2, furnace oil, like gasoline is down over a penny at 68.2 and propane tops off at 82.1 which is down percentage points. At this time last year, a litre of self-serve gasoline was selling for over $1.20.

Young and new drivers around the Province will have a new set of rules as of June.1st. Anyone under the age of 21 will be required to maintain a zero per cent blood alcohol level when driving. This includes drivers of cars, motorcycle and commercial vehicles. This new rule applies to residents and visitors, those who have just received their license, and anyone who has been driving for two or three years.
The new rules also include several improvements to the graduated driver's license program. They can be found at the Public Safety website.......www.gnb.ca/publicsafety.

Plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures for all to enjoy in this Province and Nova Scotia yesterday and for some, heat coming from the sun we normall don't feel until July. Many records were set including at the Fredericton Airport which hit 29.6. The Moncton Airport topped off 28.2. St. Leonard came in at 22.8 and Charlo 22.5 .
Here in St. Stephen posted a high of 31.7 ,Saint John.....18.3 was the high but not a record and Gagetown came roaring in at 29.8.
