New Brunswickers are being reminded to be more aware about fire safety in their homes during Fire Prevention Week, which takes place Oct. 3-9 throughout the province.
The theme of this year's week is Consider the risks - Watch what you heat. It is sponsored by the Department of Public Safety, in partnership with the New Brunswick Association of Fire Chiefs and the New Brunswick Association of Fire Prevention Officers. The official launch takes place on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Perth-Andover Fire Department.
Local Fire Chief Jeff Richardson tells us that most fires originate from lack of attention.
Richardson tell Tide News people need to use smoke detectors and to be sure they are working properly with routine cleaning.
Richardson say also watch what you heat use deep fryers not geese on the stop and if a Fire starts Get out and stay out.
